The above process is for those who are interested in becoming long-term Haven Humane Society volunteers (6+ months). In addition, volunteers are asked to pledge at least two hours per week in order to remain an active volunteer. If you know now that this commitment would be difficult, please consider helping us in other ways and/or becoming a foster parent.

For the safety of our volunteers, and due to liability reasons, we require all volunteers to be ten years of age or older. Volunteers age 15 and younger are required to volunteer alongside a parent of guardian (18+) who must also go through the volunteer process.

Volunteers who are 16-17 years old may volunteer without an adult on site but they must have a parent/guardian sign the liability waiver.

If you have an idea for a group volunteer activity or a special request, please email our Volunteer Coordinator at Please be sure to include an ideal date, time, and general area of work you would like to help out in.

This program satisfies school community service but does not satisfy court-ordered community service hours. If you need to complete community service hours, please call 530-241-1653.
