Haven Humane is partnering with Animal Balance for a special three-day MASH spay/neuter clinic September 18–20. Together, we will provide more than 200 spay/neuter surgeries for community pets.

Dogs: 8:00 a.m.
Cats: 9:00 a.m.
Please allow approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour for cat check-in and 30 minutes to 2 hours for dog check-in.
All pet owners must complete the required paperwork before leaving. All pets will receive a pre-surgery exam. Dog owners must remain on-site until their pet’s exam and paperwork are complete. Cat owners may leave after completing paperwork and check-in.
Important Information
Dogs over 80 pounds cannot be scheduled for this clinic.
Brachycephalic, or short-nosed and flat-faced, dog breeds cannot be scheduled due to anesthesia risks. This includes, but is not limited to, French Bulldogs, Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers, Boxers and Shih Tzus.
Cats must arrive in a secure, hard-sided carrier that is appropriately sized for the cat. Mesh carriers, backpacks and cardboard carriers will not be accepted.

Male Dog – $215
Female Dog – $250
Male Cat – $115
Female Cat – $165
Each fee includes spay/neuter surgery, a rabies vaccine, core vaccine (DHPP for dogs or FVRCP for cats) and a microchip if needed.
Pricing for this special MASH clinic reflects the additional cost of bringing in an outside veterinary team to work alongside Haven Humane’s team, allowing us to provide more than 200 surgeries over three days.
MASH SPAY & NEUTER PROCEDURE
Each pet will receive a pre-surgical examination before surgery. The clinic is managed and overseen by Animal Balance, with veterinary care provided by Animal Balance and Haven Humane Society veterinary staff.
Your pet’s appointment includes:
• A pre-surgical examination
• Spay or neuter surgery
• General anesthesia and surgical monitoring
• Pain medication
• Recovery care from trained veterinary staff
• Required vaccines and a microchip
• A small green tattoo near the incision to show that your pet has been spayed or neutered
Haven Humane Society is hosting the clinic and assisting with registration, veterinary care, and on-site support. Animal Balance is responsible for managing and overseeing clinic operations and post-surgical support.
Please bring proof of your pet’s current rabies vaccination. Pets without proof of a current rabies vaccine will receive one during their appointment.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR SURGERY
To help your pet have the best possible surgical experience, please follow these instructions:
• The night before surgery do not feed your pet after 10:00 pm. Water is okay.
• Drop-off time: DOGS: 8:00 a.m. CATS: 9:00 a.m.
Cats will not be accepted before 9:00 a.m. Please do not arrive early.
Cats must be in a hard carrier that fits the size of the cat- no mesh bags, no backpacks, no cardboard carriers.
You will be checked in first come, first served.
POST SURGICAL CARE
Keep your pet indoors in a quiet, comfortable area for at least 24 hours after surgery. Prevent other animals and children from disturbing them. Tiredness, quietness, or disorientation during the first night is normal after anesthesia.
Offer small amounts of food and water the evening after surgery. Mild nausea may occur on the day of surgery or the following day. Contact Animal Balance if your pet refuses food or water the day after surgery.
Give all medications exactly as directed. Do not skip doses or stop medication early unless instructed by a veterinarian.
Contact Animal Balance if your pet:
• Appears painful or unusually lethargic
• Has abnormal breathing
• Reacts poorly to medication
• Has trouble urinating or has not urinated within 24 hours
• Has bleeding, discharge, significant swelling, redness, or an opening at the incision
Limit your pet’s activity for seven days. Do not allow running, jumping, rough play, or long walks. Keep your pet separate from other animals during recovery.
Dogs must wear an e-collar for 10 days to prevent licking or chewing. Cats should wear one if they begin licking the incision.
Check the incision twice daily. Mild discoloration or slight swelling may be normal, but contact Animal Balance if you notice bleeding, discharge, opening, significant swelling, or redness.
Keep the incision dry. Do not allow bathing or swimming for 10 days. A small green tattoo near the incision shows that your pet has been spayed or neutered.

Available 24 hours a day during the first five days after surgery. Call twice if there is no answer. Messages will be returned within approximately 15 minutes. After five days, contact your regular veterinarian.
