All dogs that live in Shasta County are required to be properly licensed and vaccinated against rabies after the age of four months.
Licensing your dog will also help you reunite if they ever become lost.

How to get your dog license
1. Apply Online
After submitting your application and required documents, our team will review your request.
Your dog license will be mailed within 3–5 business days after payment is received.
2. Visit in Person
You can purchase a dog license at Haven Humane Society in the Intake Building (Building B on the right).
Bring proof of a current rabies vaccination. Credit cards and cash accepted.
3. Vaccination & Licensing Clinics
Haven Humane Society offers convenient clinic options for rabies vaccinations, microchips, and licensing.
Licensing Clinics
• Rabies vaccines are $8 when purchased with a dog license.
• If your dog’s rabies vaccination is still current, bring the certificate to obtain a new license.
• Microchips are also available for dogs and cats (cats must be in carriers).

Rabies & License Clinics
• Held on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
• Cost: $25 per rabies vaccine.
• You must purchase both a rabies vaccination and a dog license at the same visit.
• All pets must have a current rabies vaccination to receive a license.

4. Mail-In Licensing
To obtain a mail-in licensing form, click here. Please keep a copy.
Mail your completed form, your pet’s current rabies vaccination certificate, a check, and your contact info to:

Checks should be made payable to Haven Humane Society. Once your rabies vaccination certificate and payment are received, your dog license will be mailed to you.
